Spring 2019 Adelphi Dean's List

A select group of outstanding students has been named to the spring 2019 Dean's List at Adelphi University. Adelphi's deans of Arts and Sciences, Education, Business, Nursing, Social Work and Psychology recognize superior academic work every semester. The Dean's List comprises full-time students-registered for 12 or more credits-who have completed at least 9 graded credits and achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above for the semester. This recognition becomes part of the student's academic record and is entered into the individual's transcript.

New York Tech Student-Athletes Make ECC Academic Honor Roll

New York Institute of Technology Athletics placed 134 student-athletes on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2018-19 academic year. Student-athletes who earned at least a 3.25 GPA for the academic year earned the honor. Additionally, New York Institute of Technology men's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, and Esports teams had the highest GPAs of any team in their respective sports in the ECC for the 2018-19 academic year.

Alvernia students volunteer summer break in West Virginia

Alvernia students spent a week of the 2019 summer break volunteering at the Bethlehem Farm in Alderson, West Virginia, through the university's Alternative Break program. Students experienced living simply in a prayer community while learning about sustainable practices and working on different projects such as home repair and gardening.

Emmanuel College Celebrates 97th Commencement Exercises

Emmanuel College celebrated its 97th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11, 2019, adding hundreds of graduates to the global network of Emmanuel alumni who are making their mark on the world. World-renowned presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin delivered the Commencement Address to the Class of 2019 and the more than 3,000 family members, friends and guests in attendance. The College also conferred an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters upon Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Sister Elizabeth Michaels '46, SNDdeN, who served on the faculty at Emmanuel for 40 years.

A total of 11,406 students enrolled during the 2019 spring term at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). Students Present Health Research at Alethia 2019

On May 8 New York Institute of Technology students presented research and posters at this year's Alethia Annual Research Symposium. Organized by NYIT School of Health Professions and held at the NYIT Long Island campus in Old Westbury, N.Y., the event's name comes from the Greek word for "truth," encouraging the future professionals to find passion in their work. Among the many topics covered by this year's projects and poster presentations were Parkinson's disease, the effects of vaping, the relationship between exercise and grades, and more. NYIT School of Health Professions prepares students for rewarding careers in fast-growing health professions, including Clinical Nutrition, Health Sciences/Health and Wellness, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Physical Therapy.

Students Recognized for Leadership at SUNY Oneonta

SUNY Oneonta recently recognized nearly 200 students who have attained leadership milestones through the college's LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) program. LEAD@Oneonta is a comprehensive leadership program based on current research and guidelines from the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education. All students can choose to participate in the LEAD program, which aims to better prepare them for life after college by providing a comprehensive picture of leadership and the skills needed to be a good leader. Students can attain a silver, gold or platinum level. To attain each level, students must meet a mix of programmatic and experiential leadership requirements, including completion of online courses, attendance at educational events, and membership and leadership in one or more of SUNY Oneonta's 100+ student-run clubs and organizations. Completion of a leadership level is recognized on campus as a credential that can be used, for example, when running for office or applying for STEP (Student Travel for Excellence Program) funding. The program also provides students with a leadership record that can be submitted to potential employers.
